Island Line
Island Line, the train company on the Isle of Wight is a subsidiary of South West Trains and is one of the 28 train operating companies in the UK. Island line generally operates two trains every hour and uses refurbished London Underground tube trains.
About Island Line
- The railway line is just 8.5 miles long and runs from Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin in the east of the island
- Island Line calls at 7 intermediate stations: Ryde Esplanade, Ryde St John's Road, Smallbrook Junction, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin.
- Alight at Smallbrook Junction for the Isle of Wight steam railway, calling at Ashey, Havenstreet and Wootton.
Island Line Connections
Island Line connects with the mainland via high speed Wightlink ferry services from Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour. Portsmouth Harbour provides rail connections to London Waterloo with South West Trains. Passengers can also catch the fast and friendly hovercraft from Ryde Esplanade to Southsea (Clarence Pier)
Latest Island Line News
- Wightlink no longer offer free travel to and from Ryde Pier so passengers using this service must purchase a rail ticket.
- Brading station has recently been refurbished by Island Line to its former glory for everyone's enjoyment.
Open Return Fares To Portsmouth Harbour
Open return Island Line fares are valid for one month of the return. Standard day return fares between island stations start from £0.90 to £4.50
