Great Northern

Great Northern is part of the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise, which has been run by Govia Thameslink Railway since 26 July 2015 and also operates the Gatwick Express route. The franchise provides commuter and longer distance services between London and the South East of England transporting over 150 000 people every day.

The Great Northern Route

  • The Great Northern route links Kings Lynn and Ely on the Fen Line via Cambridge to London King's Cross station. Prior to this services were provided by WAGN and First Capital Connect.
  • Hourly services run from Peterborough along the East Coast Main line stopping a Finsbury Park, Stevenage and then all other stations
  • Semi fast services to Cambridge also call at Finsbury Park, Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Baldock and Royston.
  • In addition services run between Moorgate in London and Welwyn Garden City, London and Hertford and between Hertford and Letchworth .

 

Thameslink project

As part of the £6 billion Thameslink project to improve services and train stations in and around London new trains and carriages will soon enter service. A brand new link via tunnels at St Pancras will also connect passengers travelling on the Great Northern route across London with the Thameslink route from 2018
