E-Tickets (Smartest Option)
We are now offering E-tickets where available on the UK Rail network!
If E-Tickets are available for your journey it will appear as one of your Ticket delivery method during the booking process.
What does an E-Ticket look like?
An E-Ticket contains a unique ticket verification (QR code) like the one below. It also contains your journey information such as departure and destination station, date and seat reservation where applicable.
How does E-tickets work?

Choose ‘E-Ticket’ as your Ticket Delivery method.

Purchase your ticket(s).

We will email your confirmation straight away.

Download the PDF to your smartphone AND / OR print at home as a backup.

Ensure that you have battery on your smartphone on the day of travel.

Scan your E-tickets at the barrier for entry onto the platform or during ticket inspection on board the train.
What are the benefits of choosing E-Tickets?

Convenience - Get your tickets right away by downloading onto your smartphone (You may want to do this in advance in case there’s no reception in the station)

Skip the queues – no more queueing at the self-service ticket machines or ticket office (especially during peak hours).

Print* at your convenience – if you need a backup copy (there’s no limit as to how many times you can print your tickets at home)

You can forward them to the other passengers that are booked on the same journey as you so they can download or print their own tickets at their convenience
*Please note that E-Tickets cannot be printed at the self-service ticket machines or ticket desk at the station.
What type of hardware or software is required to be able to use E-Tickets?

Any smartphone that can browse the internet can load E-Tickets. If you don't have a smartphone, then please print your tickets at home and carry the printout with you on the day of travel.

Printer - Any ink-jet or laser printer (colour or black & white) with a resolution of 300 dpi or more is able to print tickets. Use A4 plain white paper for best results. (If you are unsure of your printer's resolution/dpi, check the printer manual.)
