New Rail Fares

From now on the cheap quota fares (which Raileasy finds for you if you select “cheapest” on the home page) are all going to be known as just “Advance” fares. Before they all had different names depending on the Train Operating Company.

There are different pricing levels but the important thing is that these fares need to be booked in “Advance”, just like their name suggests. They are only available up to the day before you travel, they are not available on the day of travel.

Also they all have discounts for holders of railcards, before some did but others didn’t.

As of 18th May, the terms and conditions of these fares are that they are non cancellable but they are changeable. So, if you want to change your journey, book your new journey and email refunds@raileasy.co.uk with your new and old reference and we’ll refund your original booking minus a £10 admin charge. This must be done before the day of travel.

The important thing to remember is that it’s always worth booking in advance, Raileasy will automatically find you the cheapest “Advance” fares (whether that’s singles or returns) for the times you want to travel.

There are also two other types of fares which will be released in September called "Anytime" and "Off-peak" respectively.

" Today's ticket pricing structure has remained largely unchanged since the 1960s and the Association of Train Operating Companies admitted the shake-up had been a 'long-time coming' "

Commercial Director David Mapp said: "We want passengers to take advantage of it". He also promised not to raise fares as a result.
