Hamburg lies in North Germany on the river Elbe and enjoys excellent transportation links, having the second largest port in Europe it is often referred to as the “gateway to the world”.  Getting the train to Hamburg is easy, and can be reached from London in around 9 hours 40 minutes.

Hamburg has over 50 museums for you to enjoy.  If you’re interested in a quick or a thorough, informative delve into Hamburg’s past visit the museum of Hamburg history or if you want to learn more about Hamburg’s fantastic port and it’s international significance then head to The International Maritime museum.  The “Miniature Wonderland” model railway museum is a good one for the kids, and the Panoptikum waxworks museum is a firm favourite with all visitors of Hamburg.
