Antwerp is a must see for anyone interested in fashion; with two fashion museums, MuMu fashion and the Flanders fashion institute showcasing the best of avant-garde fashions.  Get your hands on some vintage pieces or one off new originals in Nationalestraat where Antwerp’s hottest up-and-coming fashion designers set up shop.  For fashionistas seeking to spend less Euros visit the newly constructed shopping centre Stadzfeestzaal, which has over 40 boutiques.

Rubens former seventeenth century palatial home Wapper Rubenshuis is a must see, together with the Royal museum of Fine art, displaying art from masters such as Magritte and Van Dyck.  To experience Italian renaissance ispired Rubens work in a in truely ambient environment visit the Cathedral of our lady, to marvel at the Elevation of the Cross on the Triptych.

Antwerp has a lot of cultural history and all that remains of the former fortified city that was held by General Chassé and his Dutch garrison in the 19th century is the Steen (meaning literally the stone), which has been restored to it’s former glory.  Find out how Belgium insurgents finally took the city together with the French in 1832, and learn about Chassé’s valiant efforts.
