Antwerp has a lot of cultural history and all that remains of the former fortified city that was held by General Chassé and his Dutch garrison in the 19th century is the Steen (meaning literally the stone), which has been restored to it’s former glory.  Find out how Belgium insurgents finally took the city together with the French in 1832, and learn about Chassé’s valiant efforts.
